The Twisted Minds of Aimee and Angie

We do not believe in ourselves until someone reveals that deep inside us something is valuable, worth listening to, worthy of our trust, sacred to our touch. Once we believe in ourselves we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight or any experience that reveals the human spirit. - EE Cummings

The post wherein...

I explain how my son took a header into the porch screen last night at his grandma's and took a good ten years off my life.

Sigh.

Oh, he's alright, sporting a good sized goose egg on his forehead, a busted lip and a couple very colorful screen burns, but alright. Me, well, I did somehow manage to get my pulse back to a respectable level but sleeping was an issue.

Sigh.

It was somewhat surreal, my mom and I in the kitchen oohing and aahing over Harlan Coben's new book, "The Woods" (which sounds fantastic, btw), my sister at her computer downloading music, Cameron and Sarah playing in the living room--all normal stuff. Then, suddenly, Cameron got up and headed for the kitchen, picking up speed when he rounded the corner near Christie's computer chair, he tripped over his own feet, made a grab for Christie's computer chair to help break his fall on the way down which, since it spins and rolls, only managed to give him the extra momentum needed to send him flying face first through the screen door leading to the porch. The horrific part is, my moms screen door isn't all screen, straight through the middle, where Cameron's face hit, it's all metal. He took out the screen completely, it went flying across the porch and my baby landed outside face down, thankfully his hands stopped his face from meeting concrete. But, alas, all hell broke loose when he stood up screaming and blood started pouring from his nose and his mouth. Cameron freaked. I freaked. My mom freaked. Christie freaked. We all fucking freaked. I made a mad dash for him and then stood there scared senseless, my hands cupped under his chin trying to catch the blood while my mom flew around the kitchen wetting towels to press against his nose and mouth to try and stop the bleeding. In the midst of that craziness I noticed the broken skin and huge ass knot on his forehead which further exacerbated the panic attack I was trying to control. I was positive we'd all be piling into some ones car for a trip to the ER but my mom was able to stop the bleeding and after further inspection, found it wasn't near as bad as it looked, a sore nose and busted lip were causing all the bleeding (and there was an impressive amount of bleeding) and, according to my mom, the bump on the head, while worrisome, didn't require a trip to the ER.

Sigh.

After a little children's Motrin, a bag of frozen vegetable and lots of love Cameron was feeling slightly better and I was well on my way to suppressing the panic attack that threatened to break loose.

Sigh.

Never a dull moment, I tell you.

Serenity.

Can't I have some? Maybe just a little.

You know, I severely dislike people, I didn't use to but anymore, people really just annoy me. Okay, not all people but...

Anyway, I was feeling fairly pissy Friday evening because while I was talking to my mom I missed a call I've been waiting for from Aetna Behavioral Health, a really important call, and of course, when I tried calling back less than five minutes after she left a message on my voice mail, I kept getting bounced to her voice mail. So agitating. I finally got her on the phone today and though she did indeed give me the name of a doctor (only one, for pity's sake), she didn't give me a correct contact number as the nice lady at the one she did give me patiently explained that the doctor I'm looking for is no longer with them. Sigh. So I immediately called the nice lady from Aetna Behavioral Health back and you'll never guess what happened? Uh huh, I got bounced to her voice mail. Argh. Needless to say, I'm feeling slightly more than fairly pissy at the moment.

Life, it just can't be simple.

Friday, April 20, 2007

Oh, piss on it all.

It's Friday and I can NOT tell you how pleased I am about that. This week has been such a trial for me. I'm so tired. And annoyed. Sigh.

Cameron, my angel, is currently trying his absolute best to drive me completely insane and he's doing a fairly good job of it too. If I get one more call from his teacher, or, for pity's sake, my dad about his unacceptable behavior or his fidgeting or his over activeness or his hyperactivity or his inattentiveness or his, God help me, sassiness I'm going to start ripping my hair out. I'm WORKING damn it! What in the hell do they expect me to do from here? Talk to him on the phone (as his teacher insisted and my dad suggested)? What good does that do when I'm here and he's there? All I get is a whiny, irrational child who, by the end of the conversation, is a wailing mess and no better off than when the conversation began. Talking to him when I get home (as opposed to while he's standing in his classroom in front of 20+ kids or making a fuss at the kitchen table) makes more sense, doesn't it? I don't know, maybe it's just me. Whatever, doesn't matter, I'm just venting and venting doesn't really solve anything, though it does occasionally feel good.

Anyway, as I said, it's Friday and I can't wait to get the hell out of here. Cameron and I are baking cookies tonight, he shouldn't eat them because he'll be buzzing all over the place but I promised. And, after that, I'm not doing a damn thing for the rest of the night and the way I'm feeling, tomorrow either.

Bookmarks.

Aren't they cute? I made them all by my lonely and, for my first time, I think they came out pretty good (if I do say so myself--LOL). So, what do you think?

Quote of the Day.

To be nobody but yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting.

Five Things.

A meme where I, your gracious host, tell you, my loving guests, five things about moi that I've previously neglected to do so...

* Though not many people know this (because I try very hard to be "Nancy Normal" in most situations), but I'm an odd eater (my sister insists I'm mental. Hah!). What's that mean? Well, let me give you an example... take pizza, for instance, first, I almost always, without fail, eat it crust first or backwards as my loving family likes to put it and the cheese, well, because it's my favorite part I have a hbit of taking it off and eating it separately. Oh, and muffins, I eat those backwards too, I flip them over and eat from the bottom to the top. The top is the best part after all.

** I may or may not have mentioned this here, who's to say, eh? Anyhow, I have a slightly eccentric affection for writing pens. Seriously. I love them! I covet them like they're going out of style tomorrow. My favorite pen, at least that I own, is this spiffy little Cross Morph pen that my pal Cathy bought me for Christmas a few years back, it ROCKS!

*** When I graduated high school, my main goal in life was to become a theater techie. I love all aspects of the theater, but lighting and sound and set design and props (etc.) that was my niche and very much what I wanted to do, but alas, once in the real world that desire became a fond yet distant memory.

**** Because this seems to baffle (and oddly, upset) some people, I'll tell you that I've never watched any of the Godfather movies (nope, not a one) and, at this point, I don't have any plans to do so. But, hey, I really enjoyed Goodfellas.

And since it was the delectably delightful Nina who tagged me (and not my alter ego--heh) for this little meme, I'm feeling slightly salacious (mmm, she does that to me)... I love you, gorgeous! Mwah!

***** When I'm riding Drew reverse cowgirl (which, since I've showed him how I like to do it, I rather enjoy), I love it when he reaches up and grabs ahold of my hair, tugging my head back towards him until my back is slightly bowed. Mmm. Good stuff.

And that's all. As for tags, well, you know how I am about those, yes? But, if you're wanting to do it, by all means, do...

Sarah's Baptism.

Which, ironically, I got absolutely no pictures of because the woman that is her Godmother blocked that happy little event the whole ENTIRE time. Sigh.

This, that and the other thing.

Well, while I'm certainly not kicking, I am definitely alive. I finished all my antibiotics (like a good little girl) and while they did indeed kick the strep throat, they're doing nothing for this awful ear infection that gaily tagged along with it, if anything, it's gotten worse and it hurts. The sun poisoning, on the other hand, is doing a-okay, clearing up nicely and all that jazz.

Anyway, I had a fairly nice weekend. Cameron was off in Miami with Drew's parents from Friday to Monday and I missed the little moster something fierce but I did get in a bit of relaxing and that was a lovely thing.

Friday, I bypassed home and headed straight for my mom's to hang with her for a while. We went to Cracker Barrel, had a nice dinner (gods I wish they'd get in some of their yummy Coca Cola Cake already) and browsed through their gift store (they have some super-cute stuff and they have this whole "sunflower" line that made me want to sigh) before heading back to her house to have some coffee and a chat. It was nice.

Saturday, after sleeping in a tiny bit, I hopped in the shower (heavenly) and took longer than I should've seeing as my mom was picking me up to go Easter shopping around noon, but she was late so it worked out perfectly. Once we were on our merry way, we stopped at Dunkin Donuts so I could get my coffee fix and then it was off to the hell that is Walmart to get odds and ends for Cameron's Easter basket. After Walmart we stopped at my mom's for some lunch before hitting Barnes and Noble for this book we've been contemplating, then it was back to her house where we made cinnamon muffins (hot and gooey and delicious) and coffee to enjoy with our movie. We watched Pirates of the Caribbean, it was supposed to be Spiderman (I'm catching her up cause Cameron says she has to come with us to see the new ones--LOL) but I grabbed the wrong movie--oops. She dropped me back home around 8 o'clock and Drew scooped me up shortly after so we could hit Carrabba's for dinner. After dinner we went back to the house chatted about this and that, had some phenominal sex and cuddled up for sleepy time.

Sunday, I slept in more than a tiny bit (and it was good), went out for coffee (Pepsi for Drew), dawdled and was otherwise nothing but a lazy lump until it was time to get ready to head to my mom's so we (my mom, Christie and I) could all drive to the Hard Rock together. It (Hard Rock) was awesome! Since they still have my beloved bingo (heh) at the old casino, I'd yet to actually make it over to the new one and mores the pity cause it's kick ass. We had a blast and the concert was fantastic. I'm not a huge country music fan, I don't hate it but I don't love it either, but I've always adored Vince Gill, his voice is incredible and he puts on a good show (I've seen him once before). After the concert we wandered through the casino for a bit, had lattes (with the exception of Christie--the baby thing) at Bad Ass Coffee (Yum Yum Yum) and browsed through shops before heading back home. I got home late, went to bed later and was drag ass tired Monday morning but it was well worth it.

Monday was busy, busy, busy and it was my allotted late work day (Bill and I have sorta worked out a schedule of sorts for late work days) on top of it so it certainly wasn't spectacular but it could've been worse. It was coming up on 7 o'clock when I left work and I had to meet Mara and Otto to pick up Cameron on my way home so I hightailed it to Coconut Creek and picked up my monster, who was most happy to see me and I him. Back at home we ate dinner with my dad and papaw then headed upstairs where Cameron stretched out on my bed to watch himself a movie while I read.

And today, well, it's been alright so far. Life is still crazy and stressful and entirely too busy and I'm still a good bit more than marginally depressed but things aren't as precarious as they've been the last few months and it's starting to look better all around so that's something.

In other news, I have a writing deadline I have to meet (mid May) and since I only have one of three storied written, it's time to work on pulling myself out of this funk, focus and get my ass busy writing. Wish me luck.

Hard Rock Live.

Where Vince Gill, cutie pie that he is, was kind enough to sing for us.
